HOW TO REACH THE MILONGAS

Heidelberg Castle / Saturday Night Milonga

Dance in the historic ruins of the Heidelberg Castle. Known as one of the most renowned ruins globally and the iconic symbol of Heidelberg, the Heidelberg Castle attracts approximately a million visitors annually from across the globe each year.

ENTRY TO KÖNIGSSAAL:

When you enter the castle area you will find directions to „Courtyard/Schlosshof“. Walk through the courtyard until the very end and you will see the direction „Big barrel/Grosses Fass“. The entrance to the milonga is the „Big barrel“. Please note: Walking with high heels in the courtyard (cobblestone) is not recommended.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

From Heidelberg’s main railway station: Bus 33 or 20 to „Rathaus/Bergbahn“ (10 – 15 min transfer time), then you can either take the Bergbahn (2 min transfer time) to „Schloss“ or you can walk (10-15 min) to the castle

From S-Bahnhof „Heidelberg Altstadt/Karlstor“: ca. 10 min walking distance to „Bergbahn“

By foot: a) Take the stairs: Left from the Bergbahn building you will find a walk upstairs to the castle (ca. 300 steps) . You will reach the main entrance of the castle in ca. 10 – 15 minutes. b) Take the Burgweg/castle path: Follow the sign „Burgweg“ left from the Bergbahn building.

Bergbahn Castle ticket: costs 9,- Euros per person (roundway ticket) and includes free entry to the Courtyard, Big barrel and Deutsches Apothekenmuseum/German pharmacy museum

BY CAR / PARKING:

Parking is NOT allowed within the Castle area!!! In 500 meters distance in „Schloss-Wolfsbrunnenweg“ there is a public parking space for 100 cars. Parking is for free from 7 p.m. on. Moreover, there are two car parks in the Old Town: P12 (Kornmarkt/Bergbahnstation) and P13 (Rathaus). Then you can either take the Bergbahn or walk up to the castle.

Frauenbad / Friday Milongas

Dance in the impressive walls of Heidelberg’s old swimming hall. Constructed between 1903 and 1906, the „Altes Hallenbad“ was used as the city’s only swimming facility until its closure in 1981.

From Heidelberg’s main railway station: bus „32“ to “Altes Hallenbad“ (4 min. transfer time), 50 meters walking distance

There are closeby carparks: P1 in Poststraße and P17 in Stadtbücherei.

Molkenkur / Sunday Milonga

Dance above the rooftops of Heidelberg on historic grounds of the Schlosshotel Molkenkur. From here, you will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Heidelberg’s Old Town, the Neckar Valley, and the Rhine Plain. Molkenkur holds historical significance as the site where the Old Heidelberg Castle once stood, tragically destroyed by lightning in 1537. It is conveniently located next to the historic mountain railway station (Bergbahn).

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

From Heidelberg’s main railway station or from Bismarckplatz: Bus 33 to „Peterskirche“, then bus 30 to „Molkenkur“. As an alternative you can take Bus 33 or 20 to „Rathaus/Bergbahn“, then take Bergbahn 20 to „Molkenkur“ (5 min. transfer time).

From Heidelberg railway station South (Bahnstadt): tram 26 to „Kirchheim Rathaus“ (9 min. transfer time) or bus „RNV 721“ (9 min. transfer time, 150 meters walking distance

There is a free parking space in Hegenichstraße 2. Please only park in the designated lines in order to avoid a parking ticket.

Dottis Breakpoint / Saturday Afternoon Milonga

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

From Heidelberg’s main railway station: tram 24 to „Bergfriedhof“ (8 min. transfer time), then 11 min. walking distance (750 m)

From Heidelberg railway station South (Bahnstadt): tram 26 to „Rudolph-Diesel-Straße“ (2 min. transfer time), 15 min. walking distance, walk to the end of Carl-Bosch-Straße, through the parking space of Mood’s and along the sport field to Dottis Breakpoint

BY CAR / PARKING:

The closest free parking place is in Schwindstraße 9. You can also park in Carl-Bosch-Straße or in the spacious free parking space „Alter Messplatz“ in Kirchheimer Weg 69 (15 mins. walking-distance to Dottis Breakpoint). It’s very important NOT to park at Moods in Carl-Bosch-Straße 10!
