The Gala Night at Heidelberg Castle will be the highlight of the festival. Heidelberg Castle is one of the most popular ruins worldwide and attracts around a million visitors from all over the world each year. On the occasion of the 30th jubilee of Intango we will celebrate the first Tango Ball at Heidelberg Castle after more than 20 years.

Directions: When you enter the castle area you will find directions to „Courtyard/Schlosshof“. Walk through the courtyard until the very end and you will see the direction „Big barrel/Grosses Fass“. The entrance to the milonga/Königssaal is through the „Big barrel“.
Please note: Walking with high heels in the courtyard (cobblestone) is not recommended. At the „Big barrel“ you can change your shoes before you enter the Königssaal.
Public transport:
From Heidelberg’s main railway station: Bus 33 or 20 to „Rathaus/Bergbahn“ (20 min transfer time), then you can either take the Bergbahn (2 min transfer time) to „Schloss“ or you can walk (10-15 min) to the castle
From S-Bahnhof „Heidelberg Altstadt/Karlstor“: ca. 10 min walking distance to „Bergbahn“
By foot: a) Take the stairs: Left from the Bergbahn building you will find a walk upstairs to the castle (ca. 300 steps) . You will reach the main entrance of the castle in ca. 10 – 15 minutes. b) Take the Burgweg/castle path: Follow the sign „Burgweg“ left from the Bergbahn building.
Bergbahn Castle ticket: costs 9,- Euros per person (roundway ticket) and includes free entry to the Courtyard, Big barrel and Deutsches Apothekenmuseum/German pharmacy museum
At the Gala Night you will have free access to the courtyard and the big barrel. The Bergbahn Castle ticket is an option if you don’t want to walk and/or if you want to visit the castle during daytime.

By car:
At the castle there is no parking space. The closest car parks in the Old Town are: P12 (Kornmarkt/Bergbahnstation) and P13 (Rathaus). Then you can either take the Bergbahn or walk to the castle.

Tango Riverboat / Friday
Tango Riverboat is one of the highlights of the festival! We will take you on a romantic cruise on the Neckar River and dance with a great view on Heidelberg Castle, the Old Town and the landscape.
The milonga will take place on a 600 qm elegant flagship. The ship has both a sun deck where you can relax and sunbathe and a lower deck where you will find a spacious parquet dancefloor.

From Heidelberg main railway station: Bus 32 to „Kongresshaus“, which is in short walking distance to the shipping pier.

In the Old Town parking is not very easy. The best option, if you come by car, is to park in the nearby car par „P8“ in Untere Neckarstraße 44 / Kongresshaus.

Above the roofs of Heidelberg lies the Schlosshotel Molkenkur on historic ground. Here you have an amazing panoramic view of Heidelberg’s Old Town, Neckar valley and Rhine plain.
Molkenkur is a historic monument because the Old Heidelberg Castle used to be located here, which was destroyed by a lightning stroke in 1537. Molkenkur is located next to the historic mountain railway station (Bergbahn).
